Title: Perfection In Camelot
Author: Tori
Deathangel
Pairing: Giles/You
Disclaimer: Not mine! Damn I solely wish, But truth be told, I just
play with them and put them back exactly as I found them.
You are in the past, tied to a wooden pole as a sacrifice (which called for a virgin, but you know better). There is a roar coming from the cave in front of you and you scream. It emerges and you wonder why you screamed before because its now you should be screaming and proceed to do just that.
A man clad in armor steps in and hacks off one of the arms that would've slashed you to shreds. As the fight ensues, you watch your hero battle it on taking a few blows, but only to the armor and not to him directly.
Finally beheading it, he walks over and takes his helmet off so that he can more easily see to release you from your bonds. What you see underneath captivates you and fall for this guy like you were under a spell <Please if this be a spell I prithee, do not break>.
Months wore on and he would visit you at your cottage, spending more and more time there, helping you tremendously with the chores and regaling you in stories of Arthur and the rest of the knights.
"My love, as you know, the King's birthday gala is coming up and I pray that you will be able to attend?" Your eyes twinkle off in that far away place and simply nod. "I shall see you anon my love, tonight, at the palace. I will await your pleasure."
You feel as though you would float away. <He asked me. He asked me!> as realization struck home, <Oh no! He asked me. What shall I wear?> It was at that point that you dropped what chores you had planned to finish and dash off to the village market to find a dress suited for a princess.
When searching every nook and cranny and finding nothing, you sit down next to the road and weep.
An old man with a cart pauses in front of you, but you do not take care. Feeling a hand upon your shoulder, you look up to find a gentle graying man with soft blue eyes.
"What may be the matter with you?"
You suddenly laugh, though you had dreamed your whole life of meeting your knight in shining armor, finding a dress is not the end of the world, a mere trivial thing, but its that mere slip of fashion that will make you look proper for your man and to have him quite proud to show you off. Once again you spiral into the well of despair and let out a sob.
"Now, Now. What be your troubles?"
"My dearest, Sir Giles, Has asked me to the gala, this night and I own nothing proper to wear."
"Aw, is that all. Allow me to help." He limps over to his cart
You raise your head up wishing for a fairy godmother right now, but you know these things do not exist. What he pulls out shocks you. Never would you have dared dream of such a dress. A silverfish white, with a black bodice, black inner sleeves and the whole thing laced in the back with black lace. How can you not look like a princess now? You grimace and realize you have nothing to trade for this lovely gown. As you were about to hand over the wonderful item, you find that he is no longer around. You run wildly home with your gift securely in your arms.
At the gala you find quite a lot of others dancing and laughing, you are really enjoying the atmosphere, as is the atmosphere is enjoying you as well. Few of the noblemen come over to gain your hand for a twirl, you tell them only one may have the first dance and he hasn't arrived yet.
"Do I not have a say in that?"
You look up to find the good king himself, King Arthur staring at you.
"Your Grace, I um… that is,"
"Sire she's with me." You look up to find your hero again, not that you wouldn't mind having a dance with the man responsible for keeping peace in all of England, but you are quite afraid of him finding that you are really a commoner among the royals.
"Ah what a fine specimen she is, from whence does she hail?"
"From This land sire."
You cringe, your secret out, why would Rupert tell him?
"Well that explains much we have finest here at Camelot and surrounding villages, welcome my dear."
"Sire?"
Again you look towards were the voice was coming from, a voice so seemingly familiar.
"Come here old friend." Your heart leaps in joy. "My lady, have you met Merlin yet?"
He takes your hand and gently kisses it and out of thin air produces a flower. "A beautiful flower for a beautiful woman."
Arthur and Rupert chats for a few seconds longer, long enough to mouth a `thank you' to your other hero. He smiles and heads off into the crowd seemingly to disappear. As Sir Giles takes you out onto the dance floor and it falls way to allow you two to be the only ones out there, only one thought comes into your mind, that you truly feel like a princess today.
